problems with iPhone 7 uploading photos to iMac

I have this problem to upload my photos from my camera roll from iphone 7 to my imac using iphoto or image capture.

iMac keeps prompting me to unlock my iphone7 which i did and even clicked on " trust this computer". I restarted both the iphone and iMac, checked for all updates and even disabled the passcode and fingerprint to make sure it is unlocked. However, the photos won't appear even though the device is spotted.

What can i do now?

Same problem. Ended up being a faulty charger cable. Would work with iTunes, would charge but would not appear as a device in Photos or Image Capture. Changed cable, works with photos again.

I just used Image Capture, and it worked, but I still don't understand why I can't just plug my phone into my MacBook and transfer my photos that way. That's what I did with my iPhone 5, and it worked all the time.

Sierra on MacbookPro, uninstalled macKeeper ; Iphone 7, tried steps as outlined. Finally got photos from Iphone to Imac, (but not to Photos-just yet). System is incredibly convultuted, can't believe I own these products or that Apple makes money. Terrible time sink, just to do what was doable in a couple steps ten years ago.

I see that you are having an issue with uploading photos from your iPhone to your Mac using iPhoto or Image Capture. Your iMac keeps prompting you to unlock your iPhone 7, and your photos won't appear. I can imagine how eager you are to get your photos uploaded from your new iPhone to your iMac, I would be too. I can assist you with his.

Please try the steps in If you can‘t import photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer , specifically, these sections:

Check for updates

Check for updates to your photo-management software and iTunes.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Update your Mac or PC. In Windows, use the Windows Update application.

Try to import the photos again

First, try the steps to import the photos to your computer again. Then try these steps:

Create a new photo to import. You can save a screenshot on your iOS device by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Connect your iOS device to your computer.

Try to import your photos again using your photo-management software. You can also try these steps on your PC:

Mac: Open Image Capture in the Applications folder.

Windows 8: Move the cursor to the upper-right corner, click the magnifying glass, enter Computer, and press Return. Right-click your device under Portable Devices (if present) and choose Import Photos.

Windows 7: Choose Start > Computer. Under Portable Devices, right-click the device and choose Import Photos.

If your computer doesn't see your device, make sure your device trusts the computer.

Try a different computer

If you don't see the camera entry in the Device Manager, test your iOS device on a different computer.

If another computer recognizes the iOS device as a camera, contact Microsoft, or whoever supports Windows on your computer, for help with this issue.

If the same issue occurs on a different computer, restore the device and set it up as new. Remember to make a copy of your photos before restoring your device.

Hi Chris_g1,

thanks for replying to my call for help.

I ahve tried what you have said here and even reset my iphone...still the issue persists. Then finally I found the apple support chat function and asked one of them. a lengthy investigation followed and conclusion is that I will need a newer version of my iMac and itunes in order to sync... strange is that i actually could link the iphone 7 to the iphoto on iMac once before the second attempt started to give me problems... anyway, i guess i have to either use the icloud/ photostream or simply reuse my iphone 5 to upload photos directly.

What a hassle! i wish I didn't buy this new iphone 7...

i thought the point of 'plug and play' was to plug something in a play? listing those instructions should be unnecessary in yr 2016; i'm spending my morning wondering how to download photos from my new iphone7 to my pc. total waste of time; apple made a simple process complicated.
